SQL & XML Working Together
|
Because SQL/XML is being developed as part of the International Standard for Database Language SQL, one way for you to participate in its development is to join your country's official ISO member organization your National Body. There are many countries that are members of ISO, but only a few of them are members of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC32, Data Management and Interchange, the Subcommittee of ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC1). These countries are: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
If you live in one of these countries, you can find out how to contact your National Body by examining the list of countries at:
http://www.iso.org/iso/en/aboutiso/isomembers/MemberCountryList.MemberCountryList
and following the link for your country. By joining your country's organization corresponding to ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 32, you will have the opportunity to help establish your country's position on international ballots on this subject, as well as to participate directly in development work.
In the United States, you will have faster results if you contact INCITS (INternational Committee for Information Technology Standards) directly. You can find out how to contact INCITS by connecting to:
INCITS will refer you to INCITS Technical Committee H2, which you are certainly welcome to join. If you are interested, please contact the chair of H2, Don Deutsch, at: donald dot deutsch at oracle dot com (please replace each instance of " dot " with "." and " at " with "@" we're using this convention in the hopes that it will deter the spammers at least a little bit). By joining H2, you have the opportunity to vote on SQL/XML proposals and help establish the United States position on international ballots on this subject, as well as to participate directly in development work.
If you want to participate in SQL/XML's development less
formally, but still effectively, your best bet is to join the ad hoc
group formed by INCITS Technical Committee H2, Database. To join this group,
please contact its chair, Fred Zemke by sending email to: fred dot zemke
at oracle dot com. Among other information available from Fred is the dates
and times of future ad hoc teleconferences and face-to-face meetings.
